When I knew light

(A fourth entry from the mind of Lord Telmorn Altayon. Follow his fears, his strengths... ~ Thomas J. Bellezza)

• When I knew light

I saw this world in a beautifully glow. Where purpose moved in graceful show. Tears were nowhere to be found in hearts of endless crimes. Where in shadows could our dying cries hide? With whimpers of little laughs found innocently in hidden paths to fearless seas, what mortal woes could any land bear to flee. Kindly awaiting for their hands, reaching up from below harden sands, over deathly hollows of barren lands. Oh such dread left behind in a time when no war was realized. In my grace I stood in empty peace, what have they done my children under this sun?

I gave them love, the power to hold tightly the ones they knew or never would pass ever, even likely. Still fighting began in a selfish righteousness defined by greed of ever growth to a fountain filled with zero amounts, how in my eyes I saw this so deeply gross. I wanted it so much, so true, to be a caring heart from one soul of many touches to a center circle of people battling calmly a desire for synergy against nothing but a smile from inside this truth. Banned were minutes of trial in fire was their rage considered divine reception to judgment left without guile, lithely tripping to along.

Now forever frozen in stillness of what could have been without brilliance a depth of wandering wonder deeply without question to answers only I within could answer harmlessly in life's Earthly splendor. Take a moment to breathe it out, let the sun glow down on your own mouth. I will continue to be your watching father, over my children, some of them won't ever even bother to listen with their heart, while thundering bashes blast loudly out their body's damning array of darkest gray action oust. Live my children peacefully in play, remember to rest, pause and be gay.

I dream my death...

Day 60 of 365

• Day 60 of 365 (12.21.2013)

Two months since we began this crazy adventure with “Top of the bottom pile”! All our numbers continue to grow on our social networking sites; people are calling us, and we're getting noticed as a TEAM. The fun part of all this; only two performances have happened. One where we filmed a DVD special (Which only the audio ended up being good enough to use), and Tonight, where I got to perform on Broadway Comedy Stage. How do things like this happen? Well, with shows always a secondary thing for us. I teach people about success where they learn how valuable the 3 Needs of Success truly are. If one need is being actively pursued, success will surely fall at their wayside.

So now what? This is how it works; we network like animals to show our faces and continue to become familiar with individuals and those individuals with us. Secondly, marketing; it is important to be remembered. And of course we'll continue writing and supporting one another while we rehearse. Even if that rehearsal is “Top of the bottom pile” in a room with each other going over the sets. The 3 Needs of Success; Network, Market and Practice. Networking is always about who you know. Be nice to everyone, you never know who someone is or knows. Marketing is about who knows you. Be remembered, stay remembered. Practice. Practice is about you, the 3 needs, and your skills.

In January, our first few shows of this tour should begin. The goal is over the next six months to go from 1, or 2 shows a month to reaching our goal of 3 to 6 shows a weekend. Of course, this includes traveling performances and NYC Performances. We'll most likely stay away from local Long Island shows. We are reaching out to new lands, as Long Island seems to be where we grew up. We want to meet new faces. By the end of next year we'll be making way to get on some festivals as well as getting involved with other people of note. To send it off, these past 60 days have been very productive. Things are happening, continue to happen, and are cultivating action for new happenings.

Day 30 of 365

• Day 30 of 365

30 days in with a motion upward and forward is always a grand accomplishment. This came only in part with my effort. This life, my life, is set with a team. A team of growth, a team of friends, family, and associates whom have come together to work together. Life is to short to believe anything is possible without the belief from others. Remember to give back to those who have giving to you. Respect the life of others and your own personal life. Thirty days fly by pretty quickly, so believe in yourself, trust in the plan and know that everyone around you has value. Ignoring people, what they have given to you, and who they are to your life is a part of your lackluster effort. Be better than that and give them the same respect you so desire. That's the secret of this business... of life.

Where has 30 days lead me? Correction, where did I lead 30 days? How so? Be proactive in your life. A plan is only as good as your action to that list. Always have S.M.A.R.T. Goals, what are those goals and that end result to those goals? For me, it is to continue to open doors for individuals searching for an opportunity. Also, giving me the ability to continue living the life I enjoy. The better I do, the better I can do for others. That is the point of these last thirty days. Giving back, getting, and learning how to work as a cohesive team. Having a plan beyond that is helpful too. When you get a chance to make an effort out of opportunity, try and stay clear of throwing it all away by jumping off the bus onto another far to early. Be prepared, willing and ready to make changes as needed. It is okay to wait.

Speaking of teams, both “Top of the bottom pile” and “Team Rise Together” are making things happen by making things happen. This Friday will be the second time Top of the bottom pile is walking into the city and networking. Between all the calls we have been making, Goal completing and helpfully guiding one another, there seems to be an endless feeling of opportunity coming our way. This is not just chance, but the act of being in the right place at the right time by choice. Be seen, heard and known. We are taking all the Needs of Success to heart. One thing I am enjoying is teaching my fellow teammates the process of success, how to run a business and how to make your life your business. That's the point, you want a fully working team who is all well educated.

Where to now? Next stop... day 60! Support The Cause! Enjoying the sun from the Top of the bottom pile!

Day 16 of 365

• Day 16 of 365

Wow, 16 days into this amazing adventure known as Project rebuild and I couldn't be more happier! I coined a fun team title last night during rehearsals for a short movie my company is filming. The title was; “Team Rise Together”. It was a spur of the moment when I was randomly getting excited about a group of five wonderful actors all working together to see our dreams come to life. Step one is almost completed. What was so pure about saying “Team Rise Together” was its innocence. It just came out. We laughed for a moment then thought; how appropriate. The point of this conclusion was that I am working with three teams as we speak; Writing, Comedy, and Acting.

With less than 3 weeks into my traveling adventure I am seeing the Acting world come alive, my comedy efforts with the “Top of the bottom pile” already booking gigs in the city, and of course my wonderful writing team getting some great ideas out there. The purpose of working together is that we all want to see our dreams happen. Two heads are better than one, but imagine you are working with, well in my case, 12 heads. Well, that's just, um... mind blowing! We get a lot down, we focus quicker and we always meet every week. This is our job, working in entertainment. We have our S.M.A.R.T. Goals, and we have our purpose.

The major trade-off? I get to work with my friends. That's a beautiful thing working with friends. I am also teaching them how the business works so we can all get things done together. It is a fair trade, our team seeing a future together, and everyone learning from everyone. This life is difficult going through it all by your lonesome. No matter how good you are, you need friends, you need people you believe in and that believe in you. With less than a month in and almost a full year ahead of me, I have a deep feeling this will be my strongest year yet. Here is to an amazing adventure with new friends, known friends and to be friends!!!

It's great being on Top of the bottom pile while working with Team Rise Together!!! Support The Cause!!!

Day 6 of 365

Day 6 of 365

Organized a plan for comedy this week (S.M.A.R.T. Goals). I am teaming up with two amazing comedians (Networking). We had a great meeting of the minds and will be continuing to meet on a regular bases to ensure our plan moves forward, with a team effort called the “Top Of The Bottom Pile” (Treating life like a business). Pulling our resources together helps build trust, value and propels our motivation to another level. Everyone is equal in this venture. Some have strengths in one area over another, but we are all people of value working to make the best outcome for each of us. A team has more brains, hands, and “will”, to move forward.

Another fun thing in the world of this traveling entertainer is my mind is set on conquering all my passions once again. While taking steps forward with comedy, I also took on my music again. Altayon is a band project I've been keeping more to a studio project, and rarely coming out to play live with other people. I was always scared to touch the stage again based on my experience with my last band. After ten years of working with people, then walking away from the business, I never thought I would be doing this again. I want to thank the people who kept pushing me to write, perform and believed in me. Wonderful things happening with the right people (Networking).

My acting and writing passion are working hand in hand. I have a great writing team that works with me to develop projects for my production company. Our first major project will be titled “A Super Villain Hero” I am working with some wonderful actors, which will allow us to join SAG-AFTRA. One of my main goals is to finalize this deal with a TV series I am working on. 5 episodes completed, and I am working on the 6th episode over the next week. There is a wonderful joy to be able to call this my life. My job is to entertain and make a living doing so. Anyone can do this, you need only create the opportunities and be proactive.

Day 6 of 365. 360 day remaining, and look at what is possible. Make things happen by making things happen!

Day 1 of 365

• 10.21.2013

Today begins a change. What change? A change of being me. For these last 17 years I've been in this wonderful business of entertainment. Handling the ins and outs of business. It has allowed me to do what I love doing, entertain people as a musician, comedian, actor, writer and all the things that have been chronicled in the Traveling Adventures of a Resilient Entertainer. I would say my last 3 years I had focused more on running my Production company “BBR Productions Inc.” and opening “The Rose Theater”. Both of which were born to help people get into the business of entertainment. From first timers through the spectrum to people already making things happen.

My first 10 years in entertainment centered around learning how this business works so I might improve my band “TENEbRAE” to excel in music. We ended our run playing festivals, and other large moments that I walked away from. I was no longer willing to work in a field I was not happy in. So I refocused my energy into Comedy and Acting. That took me pretty far, then I begin to remember why I wasn't having fun as a performer. So much negativity in the business. Not from people with power, but from other performers. Not all, some, but more than none. It pushed me away, because I like doing what I do, because performing is fun. The fun was absorbed away from me.

Now I am at another crossroads. I've helped people make something of their lives with my guidance. I educated them to live their life like a business. I am still very happy doing what I do, but I miss entertaining. I miss being on stage, and utilizing my strongest asset; my business sense for success and my strength in bringing a brand to life. This leads me to making something happen as an entertainer. I did it with music, stage acting, comedy and even writing. So now, today begins a change. I am about to enter my life back into entertainment but on another level. My goal, is to make 365 days count. I will keep track of my accomplishments and take note of what I am doing, and write it down!

Day 1 of 365. Here is to everyone who wants to live their dreams; Make things happen by making things happen!

• Such bad words of little point

• Such bad words of little point

One thing you have to remember in life is no one knows who you are. You might be famous, or unknown in the sense of popularity, but the truth is you are never truly understood or known. People will only know what they see you doing, or hear what you tell them. Worst yet, they might only know about you through others. Even as people talk about you, good or bad, they don't always have the full truth. So, in entertainment you are forced to deal with a thing I call “The Hold Down”.

“The Hold Down” is what people do to keep their own life in check. They take the time to talk badly about you just to make sure your value continues to be tarnished. I took myself out of the local scene because I wasn't having fun anymore. Everywhere I went I had to deal with people being rude, or insulting. To top it off, I am not a fan of listening to people “be better than everyone else”. There are people starting out in entertainment and these “Veterans” of the business throw the new people down and out. Discouraging them.

It is sad to see the people in the business taking advantage of the little guy. So why do I get my name busted on? Because I stick up for these little guys. I don't always win their friendship, as they are sucked into the system thinking that is how you do it. My advice to NEW PEOPLE in the business is this; Ask yourself “What do these people you look up to do for a living?” if the answer is a day job to pay their bills and they have been in this line of business for more than five years, I would say take their advice with a grain of salt.

Of course I have done things where people find me to be a douche because I protect people, don't take crap from anyone, but this is on them. That's right, I am not taking on any responsibility for their hate. Who are they to me? When I die, I will be the only person guaranteed on my death bed. Their opinions matter very little to me. It only shows you who they are as people. They reflect their hatred of what they dislike about themselves from what they see in me.

I have a rule; Leave me alone and I will leave you alone, Involve me and you will involve me.

Stupid Ass Questions... and Answers!

On occasion, I write for (StupidAssQuestions.com) and this week celebrates my 5th time working with them. Enjoy my answers to these amazingly stupid ass questions!

• Friday September 20th 2013 : Dear Stupid Ass Questions & Thomas, I was reading outside the other day and the cops arrested me. I think we’ve become a police state and I wonder since when is it against the law to read outside? Do you think the fact that I was in the nude at the school playground had anything to do with it?

Thomas, Not at all freak. You could have been at a nudist playground. Don't assume, that's just wrong. Kids come out naked, so why can we all be naked around them? Oh that's right, because explaining to their therapist why some random person had their junk doing the Swinging Karradine between their legs is probably the hardest thing to ever get out of a child's mind. I guess there would be nothing hard about that if it were swinging. HEYOH, did you see what I did there? I did something inappropriate, you should start paying more attention to how that looks. Who am I to judge though, for all I know you were just Homeless camping.

• Thursday September 19th 2013 : Dear Stupid Ass Questions& Thomas, I want to be a movie star, and I know I would be an Oscar contender. I just need to know how to behave in public so that I get a lot of attention, extra gigs, stalking journalists, and bad publicity. I was thinking that I would do a nude spread in Big and Beautiful… but then I chickened out. Then I thought, maybe I should just get arrested for being drunk and racist, like Mel Gibson. Or maybe I should start a Cat fighting ring (because Mike Vic wrote the book on dog fighting)... Or maybe just masturbate in public with Pee Wee Herman and Fred Willard (it would be called a spank off). Or being drunk and high like most Lindsay something or other… actually every celebrity at some point has a careening off a cliff kind of moment. So I need to make a big splash…because it is the in thing to do, everyone that is anyone makes the news for some sort of bad behaviour. So what should I do???

Thomas: David Carradine, this is the person you should model your downfall rising. His last act upon this world was life-changing and finally got him noticed in a big way. His career was hanging on by a thread before he actually was hanging on by a thread before he became dead. But think of how famous you would be! Okay, don't actually kill yourself, or do the Carradine. I am just saying there are better ways to become infamously famous, sleep with Kim Kardashian. Try not to scream the whole time either, she likes to be knocked up while being knocked up. In other words, if you did happen to do the Carradine, you could swing around the room hitting her while filming this and you'll be forever known as the Swinging Karradine.

• Wednesday September 18th 2013 : Dear Stupid Ass Questions & Thomas, The weather man says we can expect a warm winter this year. I rely on money from plowing to pay my bills. Should I rent a snow machine and use it on my client’s homes at night while they are sleeping?

Thomas: Yes, and film this. Film this all night long. Please, for the love of God, film this. This is very important for our world to see genius in action. When you are finished filming upload it to YOUTUBE so we can all watch in awe of this amazing stupid human trick. If I were you, I would place your full legal name, phone number and address on there. You know, so you can get more business. Then have a message of you speaking before the footage starts stating “Yes, my name is (add name here) and I am the one person in this video doing it.” I think you will help your business grow, and our hearts grow fonder. At least when you go to jail for fraud you won't have to worry about your weight or being a homeless camper. Jail, the world of free rent and board!

• Tuesday September 17th 2013 : Dear Stupid Ass Questions & Thomas, I'm eating a salad for lunch each day to lose weight but it’s becoming boring. Would putting mashed potatoes and gravy on it be ok?

Thomas: It would be okay. You could also skip the salad because clearly you are missing the point of losing weight. However, honestly, if you decided to think a little, which I understand might be hard at this point, it is not what you eat, but how you eat. Please, let me explain, I don't want to get a call and have someone tell me you hurt yourself because you were eating upside down on a swing “Oh Thomas J. Bellezza told me it was how I eat that helps lose weight.” I don't need that at all. How you eat is based on your portions of food. Besides needing to go to a nutritional specialist to figure out what your body type needs and doesn't need, it is all about eating correctly. When you eat, what amount you are eating and so on. If it were up to me I'd eat pizza all day. It isn't smart, but, mmmmmm pizza. How heavy are you anyway? Are you big enough to hurt a horse, or small enough to be a horse? You could always try homeless camping. After a few months you will lose so much weight you'll be happy to anything even if it is unhealthy.

• Monday September 16th 2013 : Dear Stupid Ass Questions & Thomas, Are those who are homeless basically people who enjoy camping?

Thomas: Funny you should ask this question. Let me clarify a few things up. A homeless person is normally a wealthy person who didn't want to deal with life's insanity anymore. I am not saying this happens all the time, just a small portion of the time. The rest of them are trying to follow in suit to become wealthy people. It makes sense if you think about it. In fact, you should try an experiment; since these homeless people are trying to take the 1% of our nations wealth, you should give them your home and trade with them to see if you could earn wealth on the street like these thieves do. If it makes you feel better, on those super hot nights, or cold evenings with no blanket, you can remember two very important things. 1) you are sacrificing to earn wealth so one day you can be rich and then give back to your community of people who are ignoring you, think you smell (because you do) and get mad at you because you need a dollar to buy something stupid: like food. And 2) think of it as camping.

Don't Read This!

• Don't Read This!

Don't read what? That's correct, don't read this. Words, how they seem to move people to interest. Being an entertainer you must find ways to have people grow to be interested in what you have to offer. Being a great juggler is nothing compared to being someone of interest. The marketing world does it to all of us. Somehow, someway, your interest is captured and you are drawn into reading about something, or buying something. It happens everyday. It got your attention. That's the point, that's the secret. Or is it?

A brand has three stages; Awareness, Interest, and Sales. Building awareness creates interest which in turn generates sales. Sales are also considered “buying” into a brand. It took me about 7 years to realize that. Having a brand is such an easy idea that for me to have missed; it made me feel way out of the loop. Mastering branding, marketing, and creating interest continues to be my goal so I might see the truth in a bigger connection with life. Our union of people among a world of people is a beautiful idea.

I have friends that are killing themselves to get work. I use to do that, then I changed my daily activity from “wanting” to “giving”. That's right; I gave my time to people so they knew my brand, they knew me! When I could I did my best, when I couldn't, then I helped my best. I was always willing to learn from people, help people and live with people in my life. Now, people contact me for work in entertainment. I was just called to work in theater out in the city because of the people I know, and the hard work of knowing these people.

Don't read this... go out there and do this. Build your brand and make your dreams happen!

The world wants you to succeed

• The world wants you to succeed

If there is one thing I have learned in all my years in entertainment is; The world wants you to succeed. They want those who are willing to work harder than everyone else to succeed. They want us, as a group of people to succeed. We were given a brain that continues to develop over each generation. If we were never meant to succeed, then why would we have been given such a powerful tool? A tool so powerful it creates dreams. Dreams in which a drive begins to reality. People wanted to eat more, they created a way to farm. People wanted to travel faster than walking and so cars were created... A space shuttle, etc.

We have the power to fail as well. I hear people all the time talking about “I can't”, or “I just don't know what to do!” The beauty of failure is others may find a solution in a flaw. Where one fails, another finds victory. I've been a student of both finding success through my own failures and others failing. I can only assume that I will rarely ever assume, except on occasion when it only makes sense to do a jig afterward. I like dancing, even in a failed victory; because then I feel like I kind of won too. What I am getting at is; people ask me how to succeed all the time. I tell them how, and they don't believe.

Some people listen, others don't. I've found, in the consul of a close friend, that sometimes I might be selling myself short. I own a production company. One of our major services is my consultation. However, I find myself giving people free advice all the time; Hey, I care, what can I say... What this wonderful friend tells me is “free advice is considered devalued advice.” She's correct. If I am just giving the advice away then I am a person speaking as if I know it all. Who is going to listen to free advice. If I continue to allow people to pay for that advice they'll take it more seriously. Anything we pay for has more weight.

Hamlet!

The Prince of Denmark is coming in August to The Rose Theater : 1320 Lincoln Ave Holbrook NY 11741

Over the next few months The Rose Theater is getting ready for Hamlet. I so happen to be performing as Hamlet in this production. The company is searching for donations to help give the best representation of such an amazing play by William Shakespeare. If only $10 a person, we'll be able to hit our goal fairly quickly as our deadline date is July 1st. Which would give the Theater enough time to build the sets and utilize the donations for said materials.

You get one life!

• You get one life!

I am in this life for one good run. Will I comeback? Who knows! This is a blog about success in my life through the world of entertainment and my adventures. So here it is; the truth of what keeps me going as I see people fall the side in fear, or those who take on paths that have nothing to do with their dreams. I see these people as stronger than me. To given to their fears and allow life to control them. To give them a world of basic needs. When that happens I remember how brilliant it must be to give in to that fear and how wonderfully strong a person must be to give up everything they dreamt about.

With that said, I am proud to be weaker than that. I am proud to find my needs of happiness and success much greater than surviving in a world where I know I would not be happy. I am not meant to pack out shelves. I am not meant to work for someone giving me orders to help a monster company that will happily fire me for being 15 minutes early, or 2 minutes late. I will not give my life to a company that sees me as a number in a group of people that I MUST come in or else I am being disrespectful to the system. If I am sick, I am staying home. It is after-all, just a job, that cares almost nothing for me.

Where does that lead me? Right here where I am. This is my life. I work hard, I sleep little and I can hardly see straight after a day of nonstop nonsense; BUT, I love it. I am me. I get to live my life. This one and only life. It is an amazing feeling. I can act when I want, sing when I need to, do comedy, or write. I can help people, and I can continue being the rise and fall of my success. There is nothing more beautiful than that in the world. For those who complain about their lives, I have little pity. Because you can make changes to see yourself take control of your life. Anyone, I mean anyone, can do it. You need only start doing something.

You want it, come and get it

• You want it, come and get it

Sadly I see it all the time; people who will not put the time in but want it right this moment. “I want” is a different mentality than “I am getting it through action”. Make it happen right now by doing. Some people become unmotivated when they see nothing coming from their actions after a short time. It takes much longer than a few short months, or even a wonderfully long year of “kind of doing it” action.

What is the Truth of success? It takes 365 days to become successful. That means one full year of working diligently without stopping or taking breaks. Once you get passed your first year you will find yourself within the field you so desire to be in. You are successfully working in the reality of what was once a dream. This year is toughest of all the years to come. There are no breaks, or doing it halfway.

Once you succeed at making it through your first year (Which is longer than 3 months, 6 months or even 11 months... since it is a full year) you are into your five year haul which leads to a growth in your wealth. Once you reach your fifth year you will be earning that wealth in stride as you complete the next 10 years to officially become wealthy within your field. That's right, it takes 10 years on average to succeed!

You do for free... but?

• You do for free... but?

People make me sad when I hear them talk about their lives. What they want, how come they can't have it, or do anything. So many excuses. When I listen to people complain; I just want to poke them in their eyes. One thing that makes me even more upset than that; People who give up on placing the time into their dream. Why have a dream then? My thought is this; You do for free... but you are willing to work for others.

In entertainment we place a lot of our own time into learning a craft. A particular craft that one loves. People handle growing this craft for free. Hours of our time, is the cost, but it is worth it! It never matters that we are forgetting to eat, think of other things. In fact, they'll spend almost every cent they have just to afford their willingness to help grow that craft. Which, is amazing! BUT...

A person will give their life to working for a company for a few dollars. Expecting to only try for their dream if “the right moment” comes around: that one “Big Paying” opportunity! Sometimes one must place time into making it happen without an instant reward. If you are willing to work for a company to make a career out of it because you want “Security” than why not place that same effort into your dream? No matter the cost.

Giving up, getting up

• Giving up, getting up

Today could be the last day of your life and yet you are willing to give up! Make things happen by making things happen. I say it all the time to a point of redundancy. People have told me it sounds unpersonable. That I am all business. You know what? I am all business. My life is a business. I want to live in control of my personal overhead. What it cost me to live; pay rent, eat, drive, dance, whatever I do is my overhead. So why would I just live outside of my overhead in debt? Well? It is a business. LIFE is a business. I will always push people to live stronger than they are. You are a life, you have value. Believe in yourself damn it! When you fall down make sure you always get yourself up.

I fell once, I fell many times. Because of woman, because of sickness, because of money, because of many different reasons, but I still got back up. In working with my purpose in this 5 blog stretch; you must know this business is difficult. I've seen so many people give up over little things. Driving through a tunnel only to come out jaded at its other side. What can I say? You will gain enemies or you're not doing anything right. People won't like you. They might even say bad things about you. Tainting your name, your brand, just to feel better about themselves. What is the point of being an douche in the first place? Be nice to everyone, you never know who someone is or knows.

Rule number one of this business; Always do. Doing makes things happen. You must do everyday, 365 days a year. You must always Networking with people. You must always Market yourself. You must always Practice your craft. You want to know something else? You must always set S.M.A.R.T. Goals, Budget your Time and Money. Protect yourself when you can with your 3 Needs of Purpose. You must get find people who can ride your buss of life with you; fire quickly and hire slowly. If you continue to do all these things you will find life successful and anything you wish to do within that life. Remember, you want to fall. You learn more from failing. You learn nothing from giving up, or standing stagnate. Be your success... LIVE!

Reality of success

• Reality of success

I normally stay away from being personally motivated with my posts as much as I can. This leads me to just an emotional exploit of randomness against Earth's human race known as people. What is my direction for this? It is so I can cool off my stress. Honestly, I like to help people; it helps refocus my own soul. When I see others through situations it guides me to a conclusion of self resolute! Where does my stress birth from? People. Well, that just sounds generic, I know. People are stressful. You'd be surprised though, it is a stress that comes from seeing people failing, or taking onto themselves this negative energy. Lost without knowledge of complete and total truth.

Where do I stand with my own thoughts? Right here... People; You want a reality check on success, well here it is. You get many shots at making things happen. Truth is, this game is very hard, extremely hard for those with no motivation. You can mess up over and over again, but in the end, it is how many times do you get up over how many times you give up. I've seen it with my heart. I've given up before. I walked away from the music business, sat in my room and cuddled up with misery. What happened to me? I woke the Hell up. I looked at my life knowing there is more to me. I changed everything. I stayed away from music while still perusing entertainment. Finished my first book, started acting, doing stand-up comedy and living!

When you give up too fast you have done more than just stop; you have failed your life. Be more than that. You want to be something more than a job? You want to see your dreams come truth? Then do it. I know, it is hard. There is nothing in this world that comes easy. Even when you are given your “15 minutes of fame” you still must work hard to maintain that success to another level. YOU MUST WORK HARD. Everyday, all day, with the intent that one day you will be in a situation you are happy with. In the days where people build their own homes, you think they started cutting wood and said “F*ck it?” Nah. They got dirty, worked until they could keep warm inside walls with their family, then they cleaned themselves off to begin anew!

Social who, me?

• Social who, me?

Social media is both a blessing and a curse. We rely too much on it's power and as an entertainer all we want is “Right Now” to happen. We don't care about putting the work in. If someone came over to us and said “Listen, I can get you one thousand fans, and make you money for doing what you love in one day...” We'd say “Okay, where do I sign.” Truth is, we don't want to do the work. Social media makes this job easier and easier. Yet, why are people still doing it wrong? Connect your Twitter to your Facebook, Tumblr, Wordpress, etc. and all you need to do is write something witty on your Twitter and it goes everywhere! Or does it?

What are you writing? This is the question I most ask myself. When you see people post things about “See my show, listen to my song, how is my video” you get annoyed. Well, if you are getting annoyed then why post the same things? Because we are emotionally attached to our dreams. People will love what I have to offer; that's a curse looming inside of an artist. Spend seven years doing it wrong and then try it again. My favorite thing about entertainers is the ten plus year syndrome. This is where they complain they haven't gone anywhere but any advice is dismissed because “They know what they are doing”. Well, stop complaining.

Good news is I am going to write this next part for me; BUT, if you are interested in utilizing it, then feel free and have at it! I enjoy using my social media as a way of creating a conversation with my audience. I take my truths of life and write about it. I give them a “With” conversation. Things about what I am doing that day, or my passions. “I really enjoyed working in the studio today writing song X”. “Oh man, I love telling jokes with my fellow comedian friends.” “There is nothing more exciting than finishing a script when memorizing!”... All truths, all a big part of my brand. Let people into your business through conversation, not Command.

Rules of Attraction • Smoking Hot; Not?

(ROA : Rules of Attraction; is an insight to how people look upon one another in this world. Less entertainment, and more a look into a person's mindset. That person, me. My thoughts on society and their desires.)

• Rules of Attraction • Smoking Hot; Not?

I have many rules when it comes to my attraction of another person; as I am sure others have rules too. How hot is a person who smokes? To me, not at all. It is gross, unhealthy and filled with a smell/taste I just can't get over. I've tried dating people who smoked to no avail. Personality is important, but if I can't see the person while they are talking; A) Because I am coughing so much, or B) I am in a fog filled room, then something is wrong. To date a person, a fan shouldn't be needed.

Also, cigarette smoke and perfume/cologne hardly go together well enough to help. When you see a very attractive person walk over to you smelling like a mixture of chimney and fried death, I lose a little interest. Yes, smoking is unhealthy, as is eating poorly, etc. You can still be healthy while eating poorly. Exercise to build up your body. Smokers who workout do almost nothing for their breathing. I can eat a hamburger and still be fine the next day. Hell, I could go running and work my heart, and pounds off. So, the health factors are far from one another.

Finally, that damn smell sticks to everything. Why shower if when you get out of the shower you are going to smoke? Worse yet, why shower if your house smells like smoke. Once you step out of the show you are stuck in stinkville. You want to smoke, smoke; just please stay away from judging me for keeping away from you. Since this is a free world, smoke away whenever you want, just remember I can do the “wave my hand in front of me and cough” move when I have to pass you. Let's settle on the facts; I am a fan of non-smokers who really care about having a nicely cleaned tongue. Smell good, taste good, love grand!

Rule of attraction; If you are smoking you're not hot.
Exception to rule; The sex can happen if you shower and brush your teeth beforehand. Just no relationship.

I have the balls to do it

• I have the balls to do it

Doing is the hardest thing in this business. Coming up with an idea, or even wanting to do something entertaining is just a start. Nothing comes from wanting, or idea building. It only gives you a start. Make moves, create action. If you have a dream go out and start doing it! It really is that simple. People can make it happen or they can just sit there and want it to happen. Either way, I have little to no care of their complaining. I get it all the time from people. “If only... (add random excuse here)”, “I don't have the time or money”, “It's someone else's fault.”, blah blah blah!!!!

You know what I had to do to make my life entertainment based? Oh, I will tell you. I had to work hard. These people who just want it to happen because they're “AWESOME” kill me. You want to know how to do it? Network, Market, and Practice! That's right : Networking with people and actually giving a crap about those you are talking. Stop making it about you! We get it, you care about yourself. The moment I changed it being about me, and showing I generally cared about the other people, everything changed. I was getting invited to events to meet important people and my name got spread around like wildfire, in a good way.

While getting people to know me, and show them I respect people I had to market the world with ME!!! That's right. I needed to get my name out there every way I could. Playing shows is a silly way to waste your time. Making your name known is a mixture of networking and marketing. Going to places you might not be playing but still giving people a part of you to go everywhere they go. Life is short, don't sit in your room waiting for something to happen because you are awesome. Network, Market, and Practice your skill, craft and the love of making your life happen by making things happen.

For love of ice cream

• For love of ice cream

I just wanted to use an ice cream photo. What did I win? That's what it was suppose to be titled. Because really; we do things that give us stuff. Why do anything unless we win something. We work for 40 hours a week and win money for our time. We play games to be the best and get trophies. No one plays to lose, or just have fun for the experience...

Wait, what am I talking about... that's the only reason you should do anything is for fun and experience. Losing teaches you, money corrupts the mind. An artist creates because that's what they know. An artist would stop creating if money was the factor, but they can't stop. It's in their blood to let these ideas come flying out. You know what though, all these artist are amazing; Music, painting, comedy, hosting, what ever it is.

So why do it other than that? Find your passion. If you want to make a living doing what you love, you are doing it for the wrong reasons. This business of entertainment will chew you up and spit you out. It throws the people who take it with greed and kills them. Those who embrace the entertainment world as what it is stay forever. Tom Hanks loves his job and everyone around him and he's doing fantastic. Be happy first...

What will you do this week

• What will you do this week

I am going to take charge of my life this week. There is so much one can only do on their own. Let me not think on it. Let me believe that I am responsible for my own actions. I have a life, a career, and a business. I wish to become the icon of “Bringing reality to your dreams”! I have a great team and I believe in them. This should mean I continue being the greatest I can be. The most productive I can be. My job is to see this company grow. Well, my company is my life first, everything else is pie. Or in this case Ice Cream... I so love Ice Cream, okay, off topic... back on. Interesting enough I know what needs to be done. Keep on being me.

Funny story about the number 3... well, I'll get back to that. Okay, speaking of that... 3 different people all said something to me this past week about working all the time. Yes, I am a busy little fellow. Why? Because I have a 10 year plan. That's right. I will work hard for 10 years then slow it down. As I have begun my journey to succeed in my life; there are certain measures I took that are in the works of bringing me complete freedom and wealth. So, why would I step back from my plan because I have a team? I should be the inspiration that allows them to believe in themselves as I believe in them.

What will you do this week? What can you do this week? You have a life that you may have been living for 10 years already and can barely read this blog; or a person who is in their late 50's reading through this thinking “It's too late to make a change”! Is it? NEVER!!! Fight for your life. You deserve to make things happen. You deserve to be the happiest human in your life above and beyond everyone. Let only you be aware of your powerful direction. Others need only know you are smiling. What will you do this week? You will say YES... you will DO... you will become the EFFORT that shall STRIVE you to ACCOMPLISH any DREAM you've ever had!

Respect the craft

• Respect the craft

Working is a gift, doing is the act. When a person calls you up, allowing you an opportunity for work in a field you love, then you give nothing back; it's almost insulting to the point of actually being a douche. Let me explain; Anyone can do. Though, doing is the hardest part of doing. I mean, how long have you laid in bed because you didn't want grab the remote? Case closed... doing is the hardest part. The point is, respect the opportunity you were given when someone calls you up to do what you love. Just take a moment to let that sink into your head.

I've said in the past; “When I perform, I am performing for all those who've performed before me and all those who wish they could have the chance to perform now.” My grandfather taught me that. He played guitar. He said to be once; “Tom, get out of here.” wait, that was another time. Oh, yes, I remember now “Tom, when you play the guitar, respect it. Someone put their love into building it. Others wish they could play it. You have a chance to represent both the creator of this beautiful instrument and those wishing they could make it come alive.” God, that's so true, so beautiful.

I remember that, and turned it into my own words. So, performing is one small part of that promise. I will perform to the best of my ability. Most importantly, I will market the hell out of that event. That's right; market the event you are on. How upset would you be if you set up an event, and placed people on it and they didn't even mention it until 10 minutes before going on the stage? Think about that for a little while. Respect the business of entertainment, and being a part of this industry that you want to work within. Accomplishment comes from being a part of something bigger than yourself.

Seminar

• Seminar

Having been in the business for over fifteen years my time has taught me one great thing; Knowledge is power. Yeah, that old cliche'. This is very true. I've collected enough information to know I must continue collecting information to better my life as an entertainer. Better even, I get to learn from the people around me, those I study and even more so the life that I call my own. What is working, not working, how I should market, network and practice my craft the most. These are all important to my growth as an entertainer.

Seminars, especially free seminars, are priceless in the knowledge you can learn from them. Either one bit, or a maximum amount of absorbed information. I've been to a few seminars. Around libraries, schools, colleges, you name it, if it was free I jumped on it. Paid seminars make me worry a little. As, what are they trying to sell me and “Oh, you at least got $75 from me and now you want how much?” yeah, thanks, but no thanks. Besides, free is in my budget; and sticking to that budget is important to my success.

In the sense, I've turned my life around. Now, instead of only going to seminars I have started to give free seminars. What are they about? Everything I have learned over my last fifteen years of course. What helps me is discussing my earned knowledge with strangers. Having them understand me allows me to see everything I've learned in a fuller sense of the task. Why is this knowledge useful?; that's what I think about when I say things. It's important to give back too. Besides, showing / teaching what you know helps you understand it!

Memorizing

• Memorizing

I think it started with “Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take.” Yeah, how do I still remember that crap from when I was a child? Same way I remember the ABC's. Memorizing is a key factor for any entertainer. Actors, comedians, musicians, you name it, our job is to retain information and then get it out of our system. On top of memorizing and reciting this information, we must do it with an emotion. Oh, did I also mention we are forced to do it in what most people consider the hardest thing to do in the world; Public Speaking.

A small confession; I have a photographic memory. Yeah, most people hate me for it, except I was also gifted with dyslexia. Yeah, tell me about it. I can explain a full room of what I saw. When I am calm, I can almost remember every little detail from a moment of seeing it. Words, letters, they always seem to be moved around even from recalling it. My trick, see the words as an image, not letters. I am still getting use to it. It helped me so greatly when I began acting. I've had people bust my hump about it too. “I hate you and your memory”, well why don't you just enjoy a big “Go F*ck Yourself!”. Okay, maybe not that dramatic.

I have become “Hamlet”. Considered one of the hardest characters in written history. Great. Now I have to memorize this script filled with word after word, after word. Oh, and develop a character which has been portrayed by countless other actors. Who am I to take on this character? I'm far from a real actor. I am an entertainer. That's who, what I am. I play music, I can tell a joke, I can write a story, and yes I can “act”; but I am an entertainer first and foremost. A master of none and a student of much. So what gives me the right to take this on? Life. I will become Hamlet. I will memorize every word standing before me and speak them!

Be remembered!

Teaching

• Teaching

We learn so much from a teacher. Okay, that's generalizing. Some teachers show us a lot, and most students can comprehend that knowledge. I've learned a lot from the teachers of this world. They may have been regular people in the world, or in a classroom; but I still learned a ton from them. Life is filled with experience. So, what better experience to learn, than to teach someone?

I have been helping people understand this business for years. Giving free seminars, or being hired to consult major clients with my company. The point is, I've learned more showing individuals how to do, than I learned almost doing. I am saying that doing is important, but teaching lends an additional perspective on life. When you are teaching people you are breaking down the fundamentals of that skill.

I started a free writing class every Wednesday at my company. Two weeks in and it has grown. I had one student say to me; “I wasn't expecting this”. He later explained that he much enjoyed what he walked into. He thought it was just going to be people sitting around writing. I have a natural “Let me show you something more” mentality.

Therefore what I ended up doing for this class was ask a person where they are stuck, and taught the whole class how to break down that wall. Asking people in the class what they thought, or how to add to a subject. I feel I've grown from it as a writer, and those involved seemed very interested. I ended the class with homework assignments. Whatever their question was, I sent them off to write it. Break free of the wall.

Be knowledge.
