Success came easily for these people

Tip of the week : 10 Helpful Tips To Succeed

Henry Ford was know for his assembly line idea for a person who failed a lot. Bill Gates created Microsoft as a college drop out. Walt Disney was one of the biggest risk takers who was poor, fired, and people thought he lacked imagination for having any good ideas before he became successful. These three and others have something all in common, the are people with a specific mindset utilizing certain skills and tools which is why success came easily for these people.

Here are 10 helpful tips to succeed in your life...

1) Don't rely on others : As a business owner it is your job to act. When you first meet a person it is your job to follow up not theirs. Waiting on anyone to act is the same as you doing nothing.

2) Get ride of distractions : Rent a small office to block out your everyday distractions. Actually go to work and turn off social media. Focus on S.M.A.R.T. Goals written out into a “To Do List”.

3) Plan : Have a business plan to organize your ideas, look and adjust it quarterly. Where are starting from, plan to go and the situation you are currently in. Use it as a map and a path all in one.

4) Do work you care about : Steve Jobs was quoted at saying “The only way to be satisfied in your life is to do work that you truly believe in.” choose wisely, if you make it your life, you will be doing it a lot.

5) Take calculated risks : Why give 40 hours to a career you hate when you could give a life time to making the dream career happen? Time into a career will pay if you utilize a plan and take risks.

6) Find good people : “The fastest way to change yourself is to hang out with people who are already the way you want to be.” ~ Reid Hoffman. Be around others doing what you do at the level you want to do it at.

7) Build a great team : Hire character. Those you can learn from. If you are the smartest person in the room you are in the wrong room. Add value to yourself by the people around you.

8) Take action : Have a plan and GO DO IT! Sitting and waiting for the right time will never come. Begin with small steps and goals while saving a foundation to support a 12 to 18 month overhead. Once you have your foundation you can now open your proverbial career door and focus your efforts.

9) Budget : Have a budget and spend within those caps. Knowing a personal overhead and a what it takes to run your career each month is a smart start to any venture in life. Spend wisely before spending at all.

10) Understand your industry : Truly understanding your industry is key to having success. Who is the best player in any game you have ever played? The one who understands how to play it or the person starting out? Know the tricks of the trade and how your industry works so you can play the game.

What three things help a person to succeed?

• 3 Things to bring your mind into the Now!

Best part about life is the journey. Experiencing all woes and joys in an undecided fate is a wonderful feeling. Fearfully so, I might add and yet, I still believe that my mind can handle it. What is next, what will happen? With plans filled in endless dreams about doing what I love, anything is possible when it comes to stopping or helping my efforts forward. In the beginning, or end, I am the great decider of what I will do next.

A time for proactive movement is at an constant NOW! Hurt, sick, penniless, without opportunity!? Forget that crap. Fear is in the mind. People with no arms and legs make careers doing what they love. People without opportunity create chance. People who have loss everything find success again. There is a huge difference between a failed individual and successful person. That separation is a person willing to take responsibility of their current situation and changing it.

Allow me to suggest three things to bring your mind into the NOW

ONE : Do what you enjoy. If you are doing your passion it will help you wake up in the morning. It will remind you that you are not working a dead-end job but making a difference in bringing your dream to life. Breathe in what you love and turn it into your purpose. You can make a living doing what you love.

DOS : Manage your money wisely. Know what your monthly overhead is. How much it cost you and your life business to survive. Save over your expense by organizing your money. Have four business bank accounts (Primary Checking, Security Savings, Growth Savings, Dream Savings). Spend less than you save. Set a budget to live and die by. Take control of your money.

DREI : An unstoppable Team around you. This game of success is not about friends. It is about the right friends, right family, and the right people surrounding you. Make sure the value of your life is filled with the value of those around you. Positivity builds productivity. It's nice to work with your friends but if they are keeping you down then it is time to find someone else. Life is once.

Believe in you and those around you and then become the change you want to see in this world. Be becoming successful doing what you love it will add to the world around and promote positivity and hope! Peace in harmony!

The perception of success

• “The perception of success”

There are many ways success can be obtained. Those achievements come with very specific rules. Being aware of the rules increases a person's chances to live their dream as a career. Some individuals unknowingly find resolve while on this path through luck (Hard work?). Another path, which always leads to failure, is traveled more frequently. Both roads are designed by different rules. An interesting perspective: If thousands of people fail doing it one way, why could it work for you? Are you really that awesome, amazing, and unique? Follow a path less traveled by those who have seen the mountaintop and constructed a nice house there.

My path, a path taught to me, and refined through research, is basically this; Have a plan, focus, be capable, and good at what you do. What does that all mean? Ready, I will show you. 1) Budget / save up 18 months of income / quit job / focus on career. 2) Network, Market, Practice; even before quitting a job. 3) Learn to manage time, money, and people. 4) Learn to organize money over expense to secure, invest and enjoy that wealth. 5) Life is a business, treat it that way. Earn vacation time, earn freedom, earn it all. Working to find balance in a life lived deep in debt; That is a failing business.

There is a path where the road is covered in thousands of footprints. Within this destination is a mentality which suggests: “A person need only be really really good at their craft.” This notion of greatness will get people to notice. Once noticed, all doors to a big chance open! Ultimately, more awesome, amazing, and unique, the further a person will go. Ego will close more doors than open them. How many Twitter followers or total Social media numbers do you have? How many friends do you keep in touch with? If you believe you don't need anyone, you are in the wrong business. Any business you are in, you will need everyone.

Also... have fun in life. If you are sad, miserable, or tired of what you have going on; change. That's correct; change your life up. If you are in the same place after three to five years and you are still sad, miserable, or tired of what you have going on then it is time to change. Now get out of here and go make changes!

Busy Bee

• “Busy Bee”

They call me the “YES” man. Just keep swimming! This is a motto I learned from a fish. Always stay in motion, like a shark does to keep on breathing. For me, working in entertainment is a constant fight forward finding/creating the next job. Growing up in entertainment “NO” was a normal answer. To get that mysterious “YES” a change in my life had to be made. No longer was I waiting for others to “Help” me to succeed. I ran from the idea of relying on a Record Label, Agent, Manager, etc to give me a chance to prove myself. It was my job to prove myself and no one else.

In life, it is about proving your worth on your own. Rise to the top until you cannot go any further. The secret is to run your life like a business. You want to be in movies, start filming movies. You want to be in a band; start up a band. I have received a great many “no's” in my life that when I made it happen on my own it was to rave reviews or praise. Example: I was told I couldn't write, so I wrote a play and it was on the news. I was told I couldn't be Hamlet, so I produced the show and I was Hamlet, later being told by a stranger I was better than Kenneth Branagh. (I don't think that's true)

The point is, make your life happen by going out there and opening the doors you create. Who cares what people say to you. They are only telling you what they know from their perspective. When a person tells you “no” it means to try harder at getting a “yes”. Either from them or from yourself. If you feel you can do it, then do it. If you think you are better than that person on stage then get on stage, film a movie, do stand-up, open a business! The idea is stop waiting for approval. The only person that needs to say “YES” to you, is you. This is way I rarely sleep, I am always setting up the next step and thus a very busy bee!

To inspire

• “To inspire”

It is the responsibility of successful people to inspire those wanting success in life. If you are successful, help open doors of hope, whether it is to be a successful business person, comedian, or politician. Inspiration is not gloating, showing off, or being a larger than life bragger of what you have over others. Inspiration is showing behind the scenes with how much hard work it takes to accomplish so much from so little. Coming from zero, to earning a career you want. So many times we forget how important it is to allow others that dream of possibility. It is not our stage, but the world's stage. Give it that respect. Let others up on it.

Anything is possible if you place your efforts into motion. A person has one life to make things happen. Even if reincarnation happens, this is current life is right now. Make the best of it. Me, I am writing two books, scripts, directing, acting, working in background when called, music, speaking engagements, consulting a minimum of 13 clients each month, doing stand up comedy, and getting my own things completed. This is my small list that I maintain each week. If I can find ways to make things happen and get stuff done, so could you. Have a plan. Take control back into your life. Control over Time, Finances, and your Team of people.

Each day that comes my way I have to find a reason to keep moving forward. That reason is life. I want these freedoms I have. They make me happy. I enjoy sitting around doing nothing, if I want. I also enjoy working on films/TV when I want. Maybe go out and tell jokes at a comedy club. This thing called life continues to entertain me. I do what I do, because I want to inspire others to take chances. I am not the best at everything I do. Though, I am the best at doing all the things I want to do. Become better than excuses. Become your effort. Say yes when you feel like doing nothing. Make an effort, make a change to inspire.

Straight Man in a Queer World

• Straight Man in a Queer World

I'm known as an unconventional doer. An outside the box kind of tinkerer. My methods are always questionable from any first encounter with new people. My philosophy is “Why listen to a NO when you can turn it into a YES!” Truth of the matter is, most NO's are the beginning of a conversation. To me, a no is beautiful. It motivates me. A no could come in different forms as well. “You are not good enough”, “That will never work”, “This is the way it is done.” Well, how about “There are no walls, only solutions”!? Make your path happen by being proactive. That's my secret. All Nos in my life are really hiding under a soon to be Yes.

Through maintaining a plan I have accomplished a lot in my time, as short as it has been. When you look at action in life there are two ways about it; This way or that way. I like it both ways. Become the water, as Bruce Lee once said. Take the best things from every aspect of success and focus it into one big pile of “Can Do” actionable attitude. When I am told I am doing things outside the box, I realize it is true because most people put themselves into this majority box of tasks. They live by an uneducated way of life encompassed by “This is how it's done”. This knowledge is past down from one person doing it incorrectly to the next. How can insanity be fixed if you are listening to insane teachers?

If you can't except that there is a better way than your “10 years doing it the same way but have yet to get anywhere while working your dead-end day job, which you hate, but the hell with it, I'll be discovered if I keep at it this way” why not stop what you're doing and say to yourself “Maybe there is something I can learn”. First, definitely say that out loud and believing it. Next, learn from the best. Study people who have become successful and follow their path with alterations based on your personal life. Finally, there is no short cut. You want the long dollar to life. Your career is based on hard work, not quick shots. 15 minutes of fame is not all it's cracked up to be.

"The successful warrior is the average man, with laser-like focus." ~ Bruce Lee

What is happening

• What is happening

How does a person succeed in this business? What busy you ask? The entertainment business. That's why you are reading the “Traveling Adventures of a Resilient Entertainer” – By the way, thank you for reading! I am going to give a basic outline of what a person needs to do so they can bring their dreams to reality. Then, I am going to show you what people are doing. Because, honestly, how many people can you count on your hand that are in the business you want to make a living at that are also successful? Even on a local aspect, some of them should be doing something by now. A business, if not successful and earning income by their 3rd year, must close. Yet, entertainers are doing 10 – 20 years still putting the time into their day job to make a buck.

1) Foundation; save 18 months worth of capital so you can give yourself an opportunity to say “YES” to your life.

2) Network, Market, and Practice; Build those relationships up so you can say “It's who you know”, grow your Brand through Marketing and have people “Know who you are”, then Practice your Skill and the business you are in.

3) Have a Social HUB attached to a well designed Website; Learn to speak with people not to them, sell on your website what you want people to have and express yourself through your Social HUB.

4) Selflessness; Remember success has nothing to do with you, it is always about other people.

5) Be proactive; get things done and DO. You want something, go after it.

These are the simple versions of what needs to be done. You can take it and grow with it. These little things create big opportunity for you. They did for me and changed my world. I began listening to people instead of relying on my talents and my lack of knowledge in how the system of entertainment worked. One other major change was, I started being around the world I was interested in. I didn't just go when I thought it suited me. I was there because it was there and I wanted to be around it, all of it. Everything, the music, the comedy, acting. I wanted to see how it all worked, and how I could help others by giving my time to them without asking for anything in return. I still live by this philosophy. Life is short, so why live your life away for other people's dreams when you should be living your own!?

A few things people, who are stuck on the road to being Jaded, do; since they “Should be discovered because they are amazing, awesome and unique!”

• Practice far too much; The idea that if you become good enough, all things will fall into place.
• I need a product; Writing Jokes, Recording Musical CD's, Film a TV Pilot / Movie, Have a book, etc. YOU are the product.
• They are in this alone; Look to your left and right. Everyone is in it, now work together.
• I am better than them; So what. It is not how amazing you are over others but how much people like you. Be nice!
• Show, Show, Show!; A show defines nothing of your brand. It is a place for fans to come see you, not grow them.
• Must have the best, be the best, perform the best; HAVE FUN, enjoy the ride. You are an entertainer.
• I am too old; So were Rodney Dangerfield, Harrison Ford, Jane Lynch, Samuel L. Jackson, Melissa McCarthy...

You are never too old to live!
