Teaching

• Teaching

We learn so much from a teacher. Okay, that's generalizing. Some teachers show us a lot, and most students can comprehend that knowledge. I've learned a lot from the teachers of this world. They may have been regular people in the world, or in a classroom; but I still learned a ton from them. Life is filled with experience. So, what better experience to learn, than to teach someone?

I have been helping people understand this business for years. Giving free seminars, or being hired to consult major clients with my company. The point is, I've learned more showing individuals how to do, than I learned almost doing. I am saying that doing is important, but teaching lends an additional perspective on life. When you are teaching people you are breaking down the fundamentals of that skill.

I started a free writing class every Wednesday at my company. Two weeks in and it has grown. I had one student say to me; “I wasn't expecting this”. He later explained that he much enjoyed what he walked into. He thought it was just going to be people sitting around writing. I have a natural “Let me show you something more” mentality.

Therefore what I ended up doing for this class was ask a person where they are stuck, and taught the whole class how to break down that wall. Asking people in the class what they thought, or how to add to a subject. I feel I've grown from it as a writer, and those involved seemed very interested. I ended the class with homework assignments. Whatever their question was, I sent them off to write it. Break free of the wall.

Be knowledge.

I Dream My Death

(A third entry from the mind of Lord Telmorn Altayon. Follow his fears, his strengths... ~ Thomas J. Bellezza)

• I dream my death

I lay in merciless rest. Strung over in horrid nights. Sleeping, awake in my dreams, while finding tremors engaged tenderly against my fright. Cursed in witness of my past crimes. Reenacted are these sins of time. I can feel hands upon my throat, or blades deep within my soul. Her face watching me hang while the wind sways in control. My Godly reign laughs down upon me. “No rest, no sleep, no calm for your prison. Find your own peace when all your offense lay dormant.” These are words, like daggers, placed cunningly within my ears.

Restless nights. How I fear to close my eyes from recovery of my day. I have no nights, no light, no figure to wake my charm. All I hear, know, all I am, here now, I still am powerful no more. I am weak like your eyes gazed along this verse. I am sick as your heart beating, waiting to be caught unaligned. I have nothing to give, all I am is robbed of me. I was thought conjured to give meaning. Now I am questions, pleading to understand treason. Feather my whimpers along your breast. Let me lay mother without rest. Embraced are my thoughts in divine loss.

When I am no more, then all I am is forever. History knows nothing of my prints. Mortals sing songs without meaning. Their whispers of my name dead, dusted in fever. I am here for no prayer. I am here for my eyes. I am here for my status of a man. Watch, watch over them I am called to arms. Watch, watch their faces fearing darkness to fight until light is gone. Watch... watch time become words in endless pages of books burned in war, curdled in morality. I dream my death in her arms. I lay my death to you the world. Let me rest once more beyond your coward.

I dream my death...

The Act of Doing

• The Act of Doing

I want, I want I want!!! Okay, what do I want? When I first started out I thought “I am awesome, I'll be successful”. When I was about half the age between that and where I am now I screamed out “What the hell is going on, why is that crap on stage and I am off to the side... I am better than they are”. Then it happened. I stopped complaining. I stopped being filled with hate and an Ego. I let go of it and started looking, listening.

What did I look at? What people were doing to be where they are now. It's amazing what you learn people are doing when you actually watch them. I don't mean follow them around. I mean, research their efforts and success. Ask questions if it helps you come to a conclusion of what is going on. The idea is you'll find out so much is missing from your life of habit. There is much one must do to succeed.

I learned that the hard way. The best way. I figured it out through failing. Ah, I love failing. Though, I also learned it through being humble. Once I brought my walls of Ego down I started really embracing life's fun little game of possibilities. So, Do. The hardest part of doing is Doing. Now, watch, learn and take note of what people are doing and start doing. Or as I put it.... Make things happen by making things happen.

Be aware.

Failure is an option

• Failure is an option

I learn from my failures. It's the only place I have ever accomplish more. A bad joke on stage turning into a great joke with trail and error. Songs I've written getting worked out through playing-around with it. Failure leads to success. We learn through doing. I've learned a great many things by doing. Our greatest failure lead to us walking. We tried the first time and fell. So we crawled.

Our natural instinct was to try, try, try. If we must crawl, we'll still get there, but WALK, then Run! Moral of the story as a child's wisdom recommends; If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. I would like to add never give up. Get to your feet even if it takes ten years. Our efforts are based on our personal resilience. Why as a child do we fight forward to get to our feet, then as an adult we fall to our failures?

I did. I did for the first 23 years of my life. I walked a path within easy success. It got me nowhere. I practiced guitar incorrectly because it was easier with the metronome. I had to relearn the guitar, how fun. My failure turned into a life lesson. Take the correct way no matter how long it will take. So please learn to fail. Think of it like brainstorming, but with action!

Be true.

Do you feel better now?

• Do you feel better now?

6 people are in a room and some person who calls themselves a comedian. Blasting in the background is noise radiating throughout the open mic night. You can smell beer on each individual's soul. Their sadness only reflecting on a need to out wait whomever the performer is at the time, till they can go up and do their thing. Even in a discerning moment they'll never realize that this is their life.

You know what? It is all good. They are doing what makes them happy. Though, there is something a person could learn while “performing” at an open mic night; Respect. You never know who someone is or knows. The problem with most people is they just feel being rude is a way of building themselves up. You are being watched. You are being remembered. You are going to be placed on the blacklist.

It happens. You just think after you speak “Oh I got that person good”. Did you? The beautiful of entertainment is you are 1 of a million people in the world trying to be what you think you are. I've learned a long time ago to accept this fact. I take pride in me being me. When the fish around me are swimming I smile because I am a part of something. We are never bigger than the world around us.

I love supporting my friends, and their ventures. However, I am not a fan of being personally attack over and over again by the same person. It is beneath me to reciprocate the rudeness, so I do what I do. I remember everything. I also try and place a thought of help into the world so I may reflect upon it with change, motivation, and direction. Growth from your fear, sadness, anger, and other emotions you get.

Be life.

A New Year

• A New Year

The first of the year. New Beginnings? People always saying “I will do this, or that” on the first of the year. We promise ourselves change on the first. Will they stick to it? Sometimes. Maybe a few days, maybe a week. What's the point of a new year and that promise? I have never really been a fan of celebrating things. I've always looked at life as a celebration for each day. More so, I've not created a resolution in years. I'm always creating opportunities each week, day, even month when I find I am at a wall.

Since there are no walls, only solutions; I am continuously adding to my life resolutions. Where, when, why, how and who I am going to become today. I live by my S.M.A.R.T. Goals, which is fueled by my motivation. Some times, in this world of entertainment we become overwhelmed. Controlling your life is often forced into uncontrollable circumstances. People pulling you in twelve different directions. So many people want so much from you. Friends, family, clients, loved ones. Yet, where do we as an individual give ourselves that attention?

We do, in our actions. Am I really giving up my life to be pulled away because of people? Maybe. All I know is my partner is right. Some times you need a vacation or you'll overwhelm your soul. So, here it is, this year I am going to take a vacation. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but for sure, I will be taking a vacation. Where to? Hell, maybe just a week off doing nothing. Since all I do is something. Do I deserve it? Doubtful. I did promise myself a life of work until I retire at a young age. Do I break that promise? Possibility. We'll see.

I have reservations because I gave some power to others. When I sat back, just a little, I felt I was failing somewhere. It's hard to trust in people when your motivation is at an untouchable level. Are they bad? To me, they are perfect for who they are. I stay away from judging. It's not in my nature. What I do is take up the slack. I take everything on so it gets done. So, I will be reclaiming my top shelf actions and for those who follow, or work, great, but I must continue to be successful in my life the same way I have always...

Be constant.
