Present in the presence of self

• Present in the presence of self

Another year filled up with memories that were born through action! With goals set for myself, it is time to reflect on my life. Let us not shy away from how and why we are here today in the present. That being present is a gift all in itself. There are those fighting to stay alive, others holding on, and even people living fully but not actually living the life they want. Our presence in life is a present in the present time. It is during this time a person can look back and learn from their history.

Is this the life I want? Is this the life where I was leading myself? What life do I want? Where do I want to be in another 365 years?

I love questions. It's fun to hear and answer questions. Even in the sight of no conclusion every question has an answer. When you hear a person say “I don't have the time” or “That will take forever”, I've said it more than once before in my postings; Where were you four years ago? Where were you a year ago!? It is important to be self aware. If you start now, then you will find yourself four years later doing something you love. To accomplish goals you need to set them.

There were goals I completed; Join SAG / Act more / Build my comedy brand / Expand my clientele for BBR Productions Inc. / See more of my clients doing things. These things were important to my year. Excelling in each made my life feel more complete. Living in Brooklyn is a goal within itself. Where will I see my life in another 365 days!? Touring, moving forward with my TV Series, my book getting published and of course the most important thing; Being Present and enjoy the moments I am having.

Brooklyn Bound

• Brooklyn Bound

First off, Pizza on the corner of my street. Enough said, three minute walk. I am in heaven. This was the best move I ever made in my life. Pizza, did I mention pizza... and an Ice Cream shop right on the other corner. You have to be kidding me. Why didn't anyone tell me there was a Mecca like this? I thought it was in India! To get to my heart; Pizza and Ice Cream. My belly thanks you and I thank you good people of Earth! What was this post about again? Pizza, no... oh, yes, Brooklyn Bound.

From Long Island to Brooklyn-Island? Still on the Island but considered a New York City / Five – well you get the idea. One thing leads to another as they say. From one year of me spending time with my Daddy while he gets better, to one year in an office in Miller Place, to almost two years with a full fledged Theater, I am brought to this location; Brooklyn. Everyone I met on the way was a stepping stone which helped mold my course. A good course, and strange yet bountiful course. I picked up a dog on the way too. He farts.

As my acting/comedy and writing career are growing, I have taken my consulting ways into the heart of Brooklyn to continue pushing my personal dreams while helping individuals accomplish their dreams. This is a life I've been very comfortable with. Though, expanding into a theater took up a lot of my time. With that gone, and my office building shrunk down into a nice movable state, I can begin to enjoy my life a little more. Did I mention I have a dog that farts? Not fun, but cute. This life, like everyone else, is worth living!

Straight Man in a Queer World

• Straight Man in a Queer World

I'm known as an unconventional doer. An outside the box kind of tinkerer. My methods are always questionable from any first encounter with new people. My philosophy is “Why listen to a NO when you can turn it into a YES!” Truth of the matter is, most NO's are the beginning of a conversation. To me, a no is beautiful. It motivates me. A no could come in different forms as well. “You are not good enough”, “That will never work”, “This is the way it is done.” Well, how about “There are no walls, only solutions”!? Make your path happen by being proactive. That's my secret. All Nos in my life are really hiding under a soon to be Yes.

Through maintaining a plan I have accomplished a lot in my time, as short as it has been. When you look at action in life there are two ways about it; This way or that way. I like it both ways. Become the water, as Bruce Lee once said. Take the best things from every aspect of success and focus it into one big pile of “Can Do” actionable attitude. When I am told I am doing things outside the box, I realize it is true because most people put themselves into this majority box of tasks. They live by an uneducated way of life encompassed by “This is how it's done”. This knowledge is past down from one person doing it incorrectly to the next. How can insanity be fixed if you are listening to insane teachers?

If you can't except that there is a better way than your “10 years doing it the same way but have yet to get anywhere while working your dead-end day job, which you hate, but the hell with it, I'll be discovered if I keep at it this way” why not stop what you're doing and say to yourself “Maybe there is something I can learn”. First, definitely say that out loud and believing it. Next, learn from the best. Study people who have become successful and follow their path with alterations based on your personal life. Finally, there is no short cut. You want the long dollar to life. Your career is based on hard work, not quick shots. 15 minutes of fame is not all it's cracked up to be.

Day 365 of 365

• Day 365 of 365

And so it is here, our 1 year anniversary for Top of the Bottom Pile! 365 days have come to us through a long, but fun, journey. Where are we now in comparison to 365 days ago!? Oh the stories we can tell you. An idea to gather a few comedians and work as a business was our goal. Step one was accomplished. Next, we designed a Brand to market and get into the public eye. Top of the Bottom Pile was born. Finally, but still far from least, we set out to network with everyone and anything. Including signs, light post and garbage cans. Of course on occasion any person we met had more to say than signs, light posts and one garbage can.

Us three monkeys are pushing forward into a second year of possibilities. With a tour being finalized, and some other interesting things in the works, Top of the Bottom Pile came around to make our goals a success. Work together beyond being associated with one another. There is more in working as a team than just being a name among names. Each member has a strong value about them. A skill that helps push Top to the next level. Those involved on Top benefit from each person putting in hard work. I am proud to be among the few willing to work as hard as we all do. These guys took a chance on an idea that was lost on arrogance, jadedness and tunnel vision of others.

365 days, man, that time went and gone. Yet, we all continue to move forward. Look back at your own year. What did you want to accomplish, and what have you accomplished? These are questions you should be asking yourself. Can you change the outcome of your life? What about the life's of others? Just because you are one person doing comedy, doesn't mean you have no friends. Our motto; Support the supporters! So much more can change in this business if so many of us stand together. Are you good enough to be the best of the worst? Do you want people to look at you and be their second best choice? There is a beautiful place awaiting us all on the Top Of The Bottom Pile!!!

The few Devils we see

• The few Devils we see

There is an old biblical saying “The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he doesn't exist...” How powerful of a statement? What if we look at it bit by bit? Imagine what power Lucifer would have if he could truly get us all to believe he doesn't exist? Then he could come and go as he sees fit. Having power over all of us, while talking directly with us. That's a lot of power to give anyone. Belial could be your friend; actions you make; family members; Cop; Lawyer (The Devil's Advocate) is a great example. Now, to me, this is far from a religious thought. As religious as I am, I personally do not believe in the Devil. However...

This statement is truthful on multiple levels. Look at yourself as the Devil. Even your lack of actions as a Devil. Entertainers are really great at two things; A) Being filled with a deep Ego and B) Being the first to put themselves down to the point of not believing in themselves. That must be some battle inside a person. Thinking you are so amazing that people should just want your artistic expression, yet on occasion, that same artist of entertainment feels they could always do better. That, the work they are showing you isn't good enough. Entertainers become their own Devil doing these two things. Pushing people away till they want nothing to do with us simply by thinking we are awesome, or have no faith in our ability is scary.

If you don't believe in yourself than how can anyone else? Giving your surrounding world a gift to want nothing to do with you manifests with your attitude. I was once immersed in music entertainment. It was my life; I knew nothing else. Then I began seeing what it all was. In an art form designed for your ears, no one was listening to anyone but their own voice. No one cared about anything but themselves. I have an extremely deep, and painful, love/hate relationship with music now. Dealing with musicians, even any entertainer. It saddens me greatly when I am directly witness to an “Entertainer Ego”. The ideals these people have. We are in this together, yet so many people push others away. I want to know there is hope.

What is happening

• What is happening

How does a person succeed in this business? What busy you ask? The entertainment business. That's why you are reading the “Traveling Adventures of a Resilient Entertainer” – By the way, thank you for reading! I am going to give a basic outline of what a person needs to do so they can bring their dreams to reality. Then, I am going to show you what people are doing. Because, honestly, how many people can you count on your hand that are in the business you want to make a living at that are also successful? Even on a local aspect, some of them should be doing something by now. A business, if not successful and earning income by their 3rd year, must close. Yet, entertainers are doing 10 – 20 years still putting the time into their day job to make a buck.

1) Foundation; save 18 months worth of capital so you can give yourself an opportunity to say “YES” to your life.

2) Network, Market, and Practice; Build those relationships up so you can say “It's who you know”, grow your Brand through Marketing and have people “Know who you are”, then Practice your Skill and the business you are in.

3) Have a Social HUB attached to a well designed Website; Learn to speak with people not to them, sell on your website what you want people to have and express yourself through your Social HUB.

4) Selflessness; Remember success has nothing to do with you, it is always about other people.

5) Be proactive; get things done and DO. You want something, go after it.

These are the simple versions of what needs to be done. You can take it and grow with it. These little things create big opportunity for you. They did for me and changed my world. I began listening to people instead of relying on my talents and my lack of knowledge in how the system of entertainment worked. One other major change was, I started being around the world I was interested in. I didn't just go when I thought it suited me. I was there because it was there and I wanted to be around it, all of it. Everything, the music, the comedy, acting. I wanted to see how it all worked, and how I could help others by giving my time to them without asking for anything in return. I still live by this philosophy. Life is short, so why live your life away for other people's dreams when you should be living your own!?

A few things people, who are stuck on the road to being Jaded, do; since they “Should be discovered because they are amazing, awesome and unique!”

• Practice far too much; The idea that if you become good enough, all things will fall into place.
• I need a product; Writing Jokes, Recording Musical CD's, Film a TV Pilot / Movie, Have a book, etc. YOU are the product.
• They are in this alone; Look to your left and right. Everyone is in it, now work together.
• I am better than them; So what. It is not how amazing you are over others but how much people like you. Be nice!
• Show, Show, Show!; A show defines nothing of your brand. It is a place for fans to come see you, not grow them.
• Must have the best, be the best, perform the best; HAVE FUN, enjoy the ride. You are an entertainer.
• I am too old; So were Rodney Dangerfield, Harrison Ford, Jane Lynch, Samuel L. Jackson, Melissa McCarthy...

You are never too old to live!

Making waves

• Making waves

The world is simple; Put in an effort and you will get results. It works. I am living proof. I dropped out of high school and became a self made man. Spent ten years making waves in music. That lead me to Canada, other States in America playing my heart out. It also lead me to my breaking point. Wanting to leave music forever. I think about music, but I don't think about playing out. I remember this one time, I had not touched a stage with a band for about 5 years. I practiced and got ready to have a ball. Even got to play on stage with a drummer I've wanted to perform with since I first met him. When I got off stage 2 guitar players said “You ruined those solos. You really destroyed those songs”.

They were making waves, playing me with silly jokes. The band liked what I did, we had fun, and until that moment I thought I could do it again. I hung my head and remembered how much I hated performers at that level of the music business. 10+ years in and they were still beginners. If you have a day job, you are still a hobbyist. Even more so, if you are not paying your bills in the field you love doing for a hobby, then you are still a beginner. Why can't people just have fun and keep from tearing others down? If they are happy, and everything is going well, then stop being the quintessential hater stereotype.

It is your job to Love that you are playing, love that you are there. That is the point to performing. You want to be the best then practice, but you want to work in this business without having a day job? Be nice to everyone, because you never know who someone is or knows. I recently worked with Martin Scorsese on a TV pilot. Yeah, I was background, yeah I didn't have lines. But in my life time, I've played in front of thousands of people on a huge arena stage, had a chance to act and make Martin Scorsese laugh, and even get to hang with some of my favorite professional Comedians. I suppose when people make waves it depends where you are in the ocean for it to matter in a positive or negative way.

Then I began to think about the truth. I am making my own life happen. Good or bad, I am doing things that make me okay with dying. I have no regrets. I wrote a book, I performed, I had my own theater and brought that to life as a childhood dream come true, played music, got to be Hamlet in Hamlet, and everything under the sun that I wanted to do in my life I accomplished. If for one time, or continuously. Not many people can say that. So yeah, those two guitar players made waves in the kiddy pool while I'm swimming in the ocean of life. I took a dump in the kiddy pool a long time ago. Become what you want in this life. Take chances. If anyone deserves it, it is you. We all deserve to do the things that make us happy.

Just don't hurt people physically, or kill them and you should be good! Make your own waves to show the world you are ready to get wet!

Face the faceless

• Face the faceless

Entertainment comes with some pretty interesting people. They are even more interesting when they are on the bottom floor. The bottom floor, level, the beginning stages, however you see fit. I even consider people 10 years, or more, in entertainment, beginners if they are doing what I call the “Oh, you're an entertainer too” face filled with discussed. Or to make it easier for everyone “Face the faceless” moment. These people who give you the face you “need” to see until then figure out they can't sell you on them, so now you get the face of their true purpose. Which means, maybe they didn't care in the first place and were making a fake face to get you interested. Truth be told, the truth works better than the sale.

Great example, I deal with entertainers all the time, and most of the time they don't realize I am an entertainer myself. I approach these people, while they are “barking” for a show; (Barking is when you stand out side and ask every person passing if they will come to your show) and they give me their full attention. I listen, talk, and am engaged to what they are presenting. The moment they find out I am an entertainer they make a face and walk away. Another example would be when I talk with any entertainer hanging out near a club and they ignore you. As if “Who do I think I am?” We all start at the bottom, but sometimes these people forget they too are at the bottom.

The truth is, I get it. You need to bring in people to make money, or even more sad, to do a free show and make other people money. The worst idea is that some of these people look at you as competition and thus they give you the stink-face. I get it, I really do. It still saddens me, as everyone should be working together and supporting one another. I suppose if they could see how it works for an already successful group of people, then they might change their tune. The person you think can't help you now might turn into the next person standing in your way for your “Big Break”. Look at Ted Alexandro, or Louis C.K. always working on projects with people they like... you know, friends they made in the business.

Be nice to everyone, you never know who someone is, or knows...

Poetry in motion

• Poetry in motion

Being an entertainer is a struggle. It becomes a battle after every failed audition, bomb on stage, lack of ticket sales, and of course any expression of art turning to a flop. Even when you don't feel your creative juices flowing, that can push you to hide. There comes a point when it feels easier to run away and get a “real” job, than continuing on. Every performer has ups and downs. It comes with this job. You must have your “A” game every night, every day, every moment... oh, and you are told you should also come prepared with new material each time. Some of us are even self destructive. So, Why want this life? Is there a point if in the end we can't handle all our failures? And if there is such failure, why try at all?

Recently Robin Williams had passed away by a self inflecting end. He and I suffer from depression, bipolar disorder, and the need to make others happy despite our own impending frail sadness. I suppose recently I've been considering my end game. Not to end my life, or to give up. But, the idea that, if Robin Williams couldn't take the world anymore-- Or rather, his life within this world, what chance do I have? He was a standard in life. A person who brought purposeful glow to those sad, afraid, or people committed to a finality of any given situation. I am not here to speak about Robin's death, or why he killed himself. I am here explaining that even the unknown, and known, have their battles.

I suppose I am saying; if you can, and are willing, keep on failing upward. We will have trails and tribulations. When we lose fellow soldiers of entertainment it is our job to remember what they gave to make it possible for us to fail within a business they helped nurture. When we are on stage, respect all those who had/have been on stage and those who wished they had strength to be up on stage. A fearlessness to break free of excuses and become apart of that magic. If you can't see yourself being successful, stop, breathe and rethink your plan. If you are not Networking, Marketing and Practicing; then you are standing still in your amazing, awesome and unique talent. Poetry alone is nothing if not in motion...

“No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.” ~ Robin Williams

I hate, hate; but most of all, what the hell

• I hate, hate; but most of all, what the hell

The traveling adventures continue: When It comes to being out networking and marketing, I am a very open person. One of my well known traits is how expressive I can become around new people, or even strangers. I know my actions can be different for every person; but what the hell!? Let me explain. I was walk around New York City creating conversation with people. I walk up to groups, but rarely will I approach a single standing person. I want people to feel comfortable. However last night was different. I kept seeing individuals walking small cute dogs. Seeing this, I would look at a dog, not the person, and say to myself “Aw, look a puppy, cute puppy” And variations on that.

What am I getting at!? Oh, so there was this old lady walking her dog and I said the aforementioned statement and she says back to me “Asshole.” First off, her dog didn't bark, jump at me, look at me, or try and take her master for a run. It just kept on its way. Second, I only said it to myself, not her. The funnier part was I turned to one of my friends and said, “Did she just call me an asshole?”, and then I hear her say “Fagot.” Let me get the puns out of the way; A) do I look like a bundle of sticks? B) I am not a cigarette. Okay, with that out of the way; I was very confused by this moment as I think people should be a little nicer in life. To boot, my sexual preference is not determinate by how much I like puppies.

Her cruelty made me think about how often I am kind and open. My life is about making people laugh and entertain their emotions in a positive way. So when this lady said what she said, and all the rest of it, I also got to thinking how calling me a Fagot isn't an insult. She didn't understand situational context since I am not a homosexual. Clearly she wasn't utilizing the other terminologies of Fagot. I did place into consideration that she was very old and maybe Fagot was an insult back in the day. To me, I wish I could have just made her smile. I did nothing wrong, and maybe she wanted to be in her own space. But I was talking to myself at the time. You can't always win with people, but what the hell!?

Speak to people, it is more entertaining than you might think... plus, they have seen a different world than you!

Day 237 of 365

• Day 237 of 365

65,000+ is our total combined Brand awareness for Top of the Bottom Pile. Our team continues to grown this Brand across multiple social networks. It is our job to place an effort into growing a Brand relationship between fans, friends and those involved, naturally. These numbers are more important as a naturally grown number than paying for that number to grow. 1 of our 10 stages to success is happily coming together. We are proud of our hard work, but most of all, we are honored people seem to be enjoying the ride as Interest in our Brand steadily climbs.

Big numbers are exciting to have. With little to no interaction they mean nothing. Each member of Top of the Bottom Pile Brand get a great deal of interaction throughout our Social Network. It is nice to know any content is connecting with people. Top of the Bottom Pile may be the best of the worst, but without us being your second best choice we would be just 3 funny looking guys sitting at the top of a very lonely pile. Thank you so much for helping us become something more than just an idea. You are our success! Also, many amazing things are in the works!

With only a 128 days till our first full year is completed, we still have a lot more to accomplish. Preparing for our second year, we are ready for an “office”, of sorts. We are about to sacrifice our comfort for something bigger than each one of us; The next level of success. Working as a team is more than having a day job, posting a few things and/or saying “Hey, I am involved with these guys”. Working together is about actually completing tasks. Together we strengthen our weaknesses, improving our strengths, and encouraging a hope which fuels our optimism.

The best of the worst reaching the top together. You can do it too! Have a plan, create a foundation, grow your brand and be nice to everyone; because you never know who someone is or knows! Peace in truthful harmony!

The Trap

• The Trap

In performance entertainment there is a thing I call “The Trap”. It is as dangerous as getting stuck in quicksand. Mind you, at least quicksand may kill you. “The Trap” will let you live jaded to what was once fun! A few forms of this trap are out there but ultimately they are all the same. You can place yourself into the trap. You could be tricked into the trap by others. Worst case scenario you convince yourself that being caught in the trap is a good thing. There is a future out there for people in entertainment. Trust me, I know. I am living proof. My fear is that people forget they have a choice. There is opportunities out there that will lead them into the unknown world of success!

Most commonly “The Trap” is any performance you are asked to bring people or for you to buy pre-sale tickets to perform at said venue without being compensated. Pay to Play is illegal because you must be compensated for your time or in this case, service. Bring 10 people + 4 performers = 40 person audience. You brought 10 + $10 door + drinks and food ($20 more) = $30 a person. You earned $300 and are paid $0.00 for your performance time. If this makes you happy, then throw a BBQ for friends and family, feed them and perform for a charge of $5 a person. You earn 100% for your time! If friends and family come to see you that's not building a fan-base. That and a real fan base is done through marketing, not performing. (kind of).

If you feel you will make a killing by asking your friends to perform and they will bring 10 people each you are falling for the same trap, except you are setting up THE TRAP for them. Feeling you will grow your audience because each performer is bringing 10 people is delusional unless you have marketing/branding material to hand out after each show. Even a “visit my site” business card does wonders for you! Let them remember you with an item. Most of the time, friends and family of other performers don't even want to be there let alone want to see you perform. Break free of THE TRAP. Know your rights, and know your value. Be the cause of your worth through Networking, Marketing, and Practicing!

There is more to the business of entertainment than performing. The performing is the fun part, not the business...

Brand me my value

• Brand me my value

An entertainers job is to know how powerful their company is. A company's survival is determined by how well its Brand Value is maintaining a steady growth of interest and interaction. There are rules to being a performer. With a life spread all over social media, in press and on an endless Internet, there is little time for a very intimate private personal life. Keep these things separated while building Brand awareness which creates interest that ultimately generates sales. Sales are people choosing to give their time into your life.

Having extremely large numbers is only as good as fan interaction. Even more so, how does a Bread interact with fans? Keeping a Brand dedicated to specific voice, image and conversation is a job all in itself. Staying on task, keeping a fan base informed, leads to expressing a Brand's life opinions. Let people see what a Brand is doing to give them an option to come on the ride by choice. Asking them to join the ride is selfish. Let them have a peek through the window without telling them they need to come on in.

Most importantly know thy own value. I know my value as a person. I am aware of who should be in and out of my life. There is a strength in knowing you can say no to people. An even stronger sense of truth when you finally say yes to yourself. 30,000+ people follow my brand all over the internet. I have a large group of friends and associates around my life. And I personally know what I am capable of. Everything I have is because of my perseverance to continue moving forward. A Brand value has a reputation, it has a voice that speaks out on what it stands for!

Be bigger than your numbers surrounding you. Become a part of this world through action. Know thy value of self...

Slip in, slip out: Story

• Slip in, slip out: Story

There are so many opportunities out there it almost becomes overwhelming to think about which one to take. I personally have been living my life helping others, doing what I can to educate individuals to succeed. My teachings come from a very distinct way of thinking compiled of researching, listening, learning from successful people around this world and most importantly the act of doing! Anything is possible if you have a plan. Get that plan through researching or hiring a person to guide you through your correct path.

Over these few months I have found myself rethinking a good portion of my life. What am I doing? Why am I doing it? Self reflection, inward thinking, brainstorming, these are all positive activities. Learn from where you were, are, and could be. I miss my life inside entertainment completely. It seems that time to immerse my soul into what I love should take a step closer to my heart. Our dreams, when in your hands, are controlled by self actions. Allowing your purpose to be set in the hands of others is dangerous. At any moment they could chose to take it away through self pity, bad decisions, or fear.

Control your future instead of being controlled by other people's hand on your shoulder. Aikido is an art designed in a philosophy that we do not own the land in which we stand. First rule is to “step aside” when a person comes to attack you. Let them have the space. Move to another spot and create motion. I connect with that. Always stay in motion while embracing the calm of release. Take responsibility for your own actions and that of those who you allow to control your destiny. Be more than a complaint and change things. Rain down on your storms to create bigger waves than oceans.

Empty Pains

• Empty Pains: (writing exercise)

There was a sense of confusion waking up alone in pure darkness. I knew it was damp where I was, an inch of water resting against my body. My freedom of being aware was taken from me. Only an echo of water dripping, in what had to be a large cave of sorts, could be heard. With no other choice I was guiding myself against these ragged sharp walls. I knew I was bleeding by now, but I needed to find a way out.

I could taste a scent of light ahead. Was this a way out or just another lie of my mind hoping for a reason beyond this predicament. An empty pain blasted my eyes with a burning of sun birthed upon them. For what seemed to be an eternity, was I finally free? Last I memory I could recall, twas a summer breeze, now winter in my wake. How did I find myself lost, here, alone? Naked feet, ankle deep, in Xandea's whitest snow. I must find sanctuary. Where is my citadel?

Miles from where I awoke, wandering in confusion, my army absent in their last position. I sense war in shadows dancing in dry winds. I taste treason along the ground. A season of searching, still no remains of my army. Either they were destroyed or I've been out longer than I thought. Now to find Aiosion. She, always strong at my side. Always powerful beneath my legs. Her red scales freezing my enemy miles before they could see who rides upon her. Aiosion, come to me.

I've found it difficult to sleep these past weeks traveling the countryside. Every time I close my eyes I see bloodshed and cries. Where has my head been? I seem more lost than found. Memories guiding me across roads faded from my thoughts. There is no justice in this world. They need a king to rule over their weakness, I must unit this world. I must... fight for this world. I know evil. Is it me? Why do I see a stranger reflecting in water resting in my palm as I drink? Who am I?

The value of man

• The value of man

What is your value? Where do you stand with those around you. Most importantly, where do you stand with yourself? Your personal value will help grow value with others. In life you must embrace your personal value. Other people may or may not think highly of you, but they don't get that beautiful opportunity to walk a mile in the shoes of your soul. They only get to spectate, and thus speculate who/what you are to this world. They could never truly understand you unless they were you. You will be the only one guaranteed on your death bed. Everyone else might be, but who knows. Live your life.

You want things in life? Go after it. You deserve it. When I hear people talk themselves out of obtaining their desires it saddens me. Obviously go after your desires in a fashion which keeps others out of harms way. Positivity leads to positive outcomes. Also the action of doing helps a lot too. Knowing your value creates motivation, and destination, toward your personal goals. Unhappy at your job? Great, go get the one job you want. It will take hard work and effort, but you deserve to live a life within your own parameters. When people say you can't, then what does that tell you about their value?

I know my value. It keeps me centered. If people disapprove of my actions I ignore their concerns, unless I am physically hurting them, or being outright mean to them personally. What I am expressing is that I live my life. If people tell me I shouldn't be doing comedy because it isn't a normal job, I ignore them. I won't poke them in their eyes, though they surely deserve it! There are many things that bother me about people and their actions, yet I know their value as people. I continue on my day and ignore the things that bother me, as they have the right to be true to themselves also! Value You!

Every life is one in kind

(A sixth entry from the mind of Lord Telmorn Altayon. Follow his fears, his strengths... ~Thomas J. Bellezza)

• Every life is one in kind

Hatred is a colored ray of tasteless emotion. Peeking down our throats waiting to destroy our daily intake of hope. Cramped in sensual rot iced over in human remains. While red splashes of painful memories elevate lost thoughts praying to break free of loneliness, fear and shame. Look around, sneak a peek of others standing near you. We bleed, we breathe, we cry, we feel, we die all the same. Tall or short, black or white, the world is limited by our wicked resentment taught to us by mindless zombies educating a lack of reason to each generation. Even sadder are those who stay hidden in cutout mockeries set to fuel stereotypes designed to blind even the smallest of truths. Judge, point, hiss and miss the point of how beautiful the world could be with each soul walking side by side, hand in hand, to a melody beating through every heart, every life, as each of us were one in kind.

Experiment

• Experiment

Making the world go round one day at a time. When I was 17 I dropped out of high school leaving for the world of music. I believed I would one day become successful solely on the fact that I was “awesome”, “amazing”, and “unique”. At such a young age how was I suppose to know everyone is unique, some truly amazing, and anyone who is creating expression through any art form is awesome! Needless to say, I had a band “TENEbRAE” and with my newly found friend playing drums and me on guitar. I had the world in front of me.

Truth be told, I was no where near being successful based on how Uniquely awesome my amazing talents were. Because they weren't. I was on par with everyone else who worked hard for their craft. So what changed? 7 years into playing with this band I began studying success. I learned the value of running it like a business. Once this happened, I began playing festivals, touring, got to play Canada, and even sat down to workout a record deal. All in 3 years worth of effort as a business.

10 years in music and I was done. I just didn't have the drive for it anymore. Short story; I walked away from it all. I continued to run BBR Productions Inc. so I may work on projects I enjoyed: Organizing shows to raise money for Cancer, and MS. While also working with other entertainers to help them make things happen based on my personal experience. I turned BBR Productions Inc. into a strong Consulting, Marketing and Development company. After 15 years of running my business I opened up a theater, for a total of 17 years thus far. I am Still working hard, and enjoying my freedom.

Yes, I closed down my theater, but I am still running BBR Productions Inc. and jumping back into the world of entertainment as an entertainer myself. I have been out of the spotlight for far to long. I love making people react to an emotion; be it music, comedy, acting, writing, or the beauty of art. This is where I belong. But Experiment? What is that about? Since 2007 I have enjoyed a life of casually being involved with projects but never took it seriously. A few of my clients, and some potential clients ask me, from time to time, “If you know how to do it why are you not doing it?”

Well... I told them it was easy, so it is only right that I prove that my methods, teachings, philosophies, and the power of living your life like a business truly works. Proof is in the pudding? 6 months ago I made a decisions to be more than just a person who helps individuals, or business, achieve their goals. Between TV Scripts, Reality shows, a comedy tour, my new band, finishing a book, acting, joining the actor's union, maintaining a growing company, building my brand value on line, and truly loving the fun of it in less than 6 months... I would say my theory that it takes 365 days is on par.

Bring reality to your dreams before you become stuck in the nightmare of a life you never wanted!

So, my experiment is working. Watch what I am doing, learn from it, make it happen for yourself. Instead of judging, or making fun of it, ask questions. Think about what is being completed. Remember, we learn from listening not ignoring. I want people to succeed. I am not here to fight with anyone. And if you ever need help, I am a phone call, email, or building location away!

Death Race

• Death Race

Death Race, now that is the way you start off something grim. Today I am going to explain the beauty of Death, and our race to get there. There is a beauty in death because it tells us the end is near. There is a beauty in death because we never know when she'll be here. There is a beauty in death that makes us some times shiver, and some times never ever at all. There is a beauty in death that tells us to truly care about who we are, what we do, and who we love with in this life.

Fear of death seems so wasted. Why think of death when you can think of life. The stresses that come with everything all day, everyday. I once watched a video that helped place some perspective into my own life. If the video was real or not, it was the nail in the coffin to wake me up more than I have already become. I consider myself on the route to enlightenment since the day a doctor told me I was going to die of a brain tumor. (lucky for me, it turned out to be something else).

The video is of about 3 or 4 cars sitting at a red light. The light turns green, people honk their horns and everyone rushes forward the moment the light turns to go. Moments later a huge Trailer Truck smashed through every car in the lane through the red light and bam... they were gone. If only they looked both ways, took a moment more at the light. What changed me was the thought of this--

What were they thinking before the end? Were they worrying about their life? Where they were, or how well they were doing? Where their kids unaware of all the beauty they had lived and yet maybe the parents were worried about all the things they had not lived through themselves up till this age? What would I have been thinking right before I never was again? What would you have been thinking at that light right before you died and never saw it coming?

I thought, live. What's the worst the world can do to me? I've been poor, I've had money, I knew what hate and love was. I knew what it was to be stressed all the time, and worrying about things that in that flash of a moment no longer mattered. I am aware of the Death Race, but I am unaware of how many laps I get. Enjoy the ride while living your purpose. Say yes to possibility, say yes to your Life Race.

Day 190 of 365

• Day 190 of 365

When does it end? Never! The fight to bring reality to a dream is all about hard work all day... okay, maybe 8 hours a day. Four hours if you want to take it slow. Desire, on occasion, may outweigh the action to do. What Top of the Bottom Pile has accomplished in 190 days is no short of hard work. We have agreed that at this point the group is really at 2, maybe 3 months, in of the 365 days of working hard. Though our 6 month mark has come and gone.

Being ahead of the game with that kind of ratio is great news. As I work hard to make things happen on the back end with deals, and tours. The team mentality is working together for a common goal. Each of us is handling a specific social media site. Then we continue to build our own brand value. All in all, three heads are better than one. When it comes down to it, if one of us ever lacked for a week or so, the other two people make up for it.

It is hard to do what we are accomplishing since you need freedom. I, Thomas J. Bellezza, live a free life compared to Kenny Murdock, and Roger Skai. School, jobs, etc, they limit, YET, we are making sacrifices to see it through. I asked them for a full “actual” 365 days of time to see my technique work, already things are happening that some would consider premature. Hard work, dedication, SMART Goals, and a budget of time/money continues to prevail.

I am proud to be the best of the worst on the Top of the Bottom Pile with my brethren of comedy!

New York City

• New York City

I love the windy city, wait, wrong template intro. Ah, the big orange? Pear? Apple! The big Apple during the winter months is the equivalent to standing in a meat locker during Rocky's training session. Beat the meat, beat it good and hard. But always wrap your hands so you don't hurt yourself. There is one thing I can say about New York City: It is alive. I've been all over the world... Okay, more like North America, and New York City has shown me more in less space. I hate the city, I love the experience! I hate it because I am a country boy, give me miles between neighbors, YAY. What I love about the city is what you learn during your time there. Who people are and what amazing history each step has beneath your feet.

People have said to me “Thomas, move to LA... Move here, move there, move everywhere.” I can't because I don't want to. I love New York in general. Upstate, downstate, Long Island, the city and yes, even Staten Island... kind of. Living in Florida, or traveling around America with my metal band, I learned one thing: More happens in New York than anywhere I have ever been. Now, there might be events happening in other places, and I can't give an opinion on, say, Europe (Since I have never been there), but what New York gives you is opportunity. The history of life flows through these streams of life. Dreams that came from other countries poured through the streets hoping to make something happen.

Between comedy, music, acting and writing I feel the best when I am expressing myself through success. Each step I take is calculated. It helps not having a day job, as I am my own boss in life. It also helps that I have a very specific plan. One of which I have taught to other people for over 17 years. This is my life because I took the actions to make it my life. When people say they can't bring their dreams to reality I give them a confused look. Because they can, they have the power, just lack the will and the plan. I reached out and was advised, I reached out and studied success, I reached out and found possibility by creating opportunity! The act of doing is the hardest part until you are rolling down the hill of SUCCESS!!!

Day 150 of 365

• Day 150 of 365

When the day comes where you feel results through action are going smoothly, you must stop and reevaluate your accomplishments. The first 365 days should not be easy. Smooth makes people whom are starting out, slow down. This why there should always be a person leading the charge. A leader does not own the team, or the effort. Their job is to maintain action, and motivate results. One other job a leader must have to ensure a strong team effort: The power to teach. When that is taken away there is little left that can be completed.

Each member has a special purpose in Top of the Bottom Pile. Each of those talents help mobilize a greater cause. As a unit we will see greater things happen. A goal; be stronger than the smooth easy path, stronger than the calm. A good kick in the butt once in a while is needed! Who doesn't enjoy being kicked in the ass. Again, easy is not what makes success happen. Work hard at what you want, but have a plan! We have a plan, we have a marketing company, and a consultant helping us bring things to life. Life to that plan.

There is a mantra heard over and over: Network, Market, and Practice. It is known by heart now as it continues to heard each week at our meetings. Things we are also remember; Shows are not our first priority. So what then? Where are we leading? What is going to happen when we hit our 180 days of 365? A month away will have us half way through a year. Good or bad? It might not be too bad we became smooth operators! Keep digging into this world of action. There are amazing S.M.A.R.T. Goals before us! One after the other, one step will become many steps forward!

For the hardest thing to do... is to DO!

In my experience...

• “In my experience...”

There is an exercise I truly enjoy. I enjoy helping individuals obtain their dreams. Some people I help refocus, or get their life back in order. As a traveling entertainer I know that my life is about entertaining. Beyond that, I learned it is a big NO NO to give advice in this business. People can be sensitive, but you can't blame them. Especially after they get off stage, or are preparing to get on stage. That is a lot of pressure, and it is pretty insulting to just jump on and give someone unwanted advice. I suppose the difference between advice, and criticism, is how you present it. I always listen when being talked to. There might be a tidbit of informative factors being thrown at me. So why not enjoy the ride?

It is truth though, besides being an entertainer, I consult people on life. The major difference in this situation is these people come to me for advice and pay me for my time. I have helped a great deal of people over the 17 years of my life. From basic advice, to guidance in their finances. Mostly, I help people find success in life. What is it they want to do, or where do they want to be... Those are the biggest questions I end up answering for people. A few of my favorite people I have recently helped have been comedians and actors. They have such passion in them but with little to no guidance they became lost in something very common. Their ideas of how success will come.

As I have traveled around the scene of entertainment my five senses have noticed a reoccurring theme. The same advice: Perform and get on stage as much as possible, get on stage and perform as much as possible, meet the right person by performing and getting on stage as much as possible, make sure you have something to sell before doing anything, but make sure you are performing and getting on stage as much as possible. This advice has always made me shutter. Next time you hear this advice, ask them what their day job is. If they work a job to pay the bills, their advice might be slightly off. Getting there begins with a plan to secure a fearless ability to say yes, then what to do when you get there... that's the fun part.

Time is all we don't have?

Time is all we don't have?

I enjoy hearing people say to me “Thomas,...” because that's my name; “Thomas, time is all we have!” As I agree with this to a point, I believe it takes more effort to live with that mentality. I am an Aries, so I see each moment as our last. Embracing what may come or is here now. I look at time as moments we have lost. If I looked at it as “Time is all we have” then I would be less motivated than I am. I don't have all the time in the world. I have a select amount of time bound to me and I am not even aware of how much that is. Which is kind of scary, but so much fun if you think about it. I don't want to think about, yes I do, no I don't!

That feeling of when could it be is amazing. Thus, I enjoy living each day as my last. I truly do have an addiction to having fun. Fun to me is watching a movie or a TV show that entertains me. Hanging out with a few friends and thinking, talking and making laughter pour out of my body. Fun is being in the moment, living without stress. Those bills, you know the ones we worry about, will be there after I am dead. So, forget-a-bout-it! Take in the moment. This means I still must be prepared for anything. To get the most out of my life I must always remember my purpose.

My foundation, my Triangle of life, my Needs that help focus my dreams and goals. I am aware of my personal S.M.A.R.T. Goals while also living with a free mentality. These things keep me grounded with direction yet give me the freedom to do as I wish in my life. If I didn't follow these rules I would be working a normal job everyday to keep my life in the status quo. That is not the life I want. I created my freedom by setting up a foundation first. I once worked three jobs at one time. Talk about insanity. I am glad I am where I am now. Own my own companies, invest as needed, and get to entertain thousands if not tens of people every month!

Day 120 of 365

• Day 120 of 365

Inspire, involve, evolve, and motivate! That's what we are seeing in our fourth month of excitement. Wow, four months have gone by. Each month seems incredibly unlikely that our plan is working. It is almost too far fetch that our task at hand, our game plan filled with such Specific S.M.A.R.T. Goals has lead us to this amazing moment. With each of the comedians making headway on their own frontier, our Top of the Bottom Pile adventure continues to gain momentum in a very positive way.

One major thing we really wanted to have happen was inspiration. Our actions were meant to see the thriving nature of success inside people grow and be motivated. Wishfully believing if we began a venture to success through a very unique perspective that others might follow in suit. So is happening, and we are excited others are joining the ranks of doing instead of just performing. However, the needs and wants which lead to success are much more difficult than trying. There is a strategy and we will focus on maintaining our momentum forward.

With the Top of the Bottom Pile website hitting some great numbers, our Brand value is feeling pretty good! I think some of the most exciting stuff has come from, not performing, but us meeting new people, designing our purpose to be more and more specific. We are even going to begin the podcast show we have been really pushing for. Who knows, one day we might look back eight months from now and say “If we never started when we did, we would have never gotten where we are now.” I love what we are doing as a team. Support the cause pile style!

Consumed in darkness

(A fifth entry from the mind of Lord Telmorn Altayon. Follow his fears, his strengths... ~ Thomas J. Bellezza)

• Consumed in darkness

Pleasantly pure in sightless anger. Where light fears secrets in serenity’s silence. Touching tightly together tears taught to tangle till the thievery tales take traitorous thought tonight. Banish me in forever if all I am gifted are rants of misery, or passions of poison. Hearing her, or lashes on carrying backs left to peel of skin while bells peal through their wounded ears. Together we can leave the rest behind and question not our cowardly cares dictated by others misinformed perception. To hands of horror or the sands of time, take a stance against the crimes of tomorrow.

What did I forget?

• What did I forget?

A lot of the time when I am working on my craft I forget there are other things going on. My favorite part of being a consultant at BBR Productions Inc. is listening to people's lives. Everyone has a grand dream they wish to accomplish and that actually inspires me. With all this dreaming going on, maybe I should dream a little more too. I some times forget that I have other passions that might have fallen behind the couch. Which is kind of sad. I do not believe I will ever get back into drawing. I am not as excited about it, but I do miss it.

Getting to the point of my life began with retraining my thought process. At one point or another I was that person who always looked at others and said “I am better than them, why are they up there, I should be up there performing”... or even better, “If only the right people saw me!”. Well the truth is, no matter how great you are it doesn't matter. Your strengths must be in Networking and Marketing yourself. Of course you should be good at what you do, but it is not the only thing that leads to success.

So I got a nice email from a friend in the movie business asking me if I would like to audition for a lead role. I was extremely excited to do anything for this person, since I truly do appreciate their friendship. She was wonderful in the audition process and made me feel completely comfortable. I kept remembering if I got it or not that my being there was already a victory. I got to work on auditioning (Practicing), see a friend and others I didn't know (Networking), and also handout my personal business card (Marketing). I'd call that a win!
